Run For The Hills, Geronimo! begins with Geronimo planning a wonderful vacation away from work and family. He has a first class seat reserved on a plane to South Dakota. He has visions of lazy days spent in the cozy comfort of a luxurious hotel, with no one to bother him.
Poor Geronimo, his plans seldom work out as he sees them. This time, he arrives at the airport to find that his first class ticket has been converted into a seat in a plane that he himself describes as a garbage can with wings....

Puzzled by what has happened, he tries to endure the flight, hoping that it will take to him to his destination from where he can proceed to enjoy his holiday. However, his fellow passengers soon reveal themselves. They are all his family and friends.

On the fight with him are Thea, Trap, Benjamin, Grandfather William Shortpaws, Geronimos friends, Petunia Pretty Paws and Bruce Hyena, and Petunias niece, Bugsy Wugsy. His nice and relaxing vacation has been turned into a noisy family gathering.

Geronimo learns that Trap has planned and set up a treasure hunting vacation for the whole family. Because so many of them are flying together, he decided to fly by Dirt Cheap Airlines.

So, the entire family descends on the Black Hills and the treasure hunt begins. The quest takes them to many interesting places including Mount Rushmore. Readers also learn interesting facts about these places and of other places to visit in the region.

Geronimos adventure takes him into dangerous encounters with cougars and a flight in a hot air balloon. With his family planning his trip for him, Run For The Hills, Geronimo! ends up ensuring the poor peace-loving rodent doesn't find a moment of peace.
