If You Are Reading This, Its Too Late is the second book in the popular Secret series by the author. In his first book, he introduces two interesting protagonists, Cassandra and Max-Ernest. These two kids arent the most popular kids in school. Cass has an annoying habit of worrying about all the natural disasters that might strike the planet and always carries survival equipment with her wherever she goes. Max is a sensible young ...lad who loves telling funny jokes and showing off some of his cool magic tricks.

After their big adventure in the first book, the kids are left waiting for an invitation to join the secret society called the Terces Society. Months later, they get a mysterious note that seems like an ordinary note from Casss mom. However, they soon realize that the note is a code that might just be an invitation to a secret meeting held by the Terces society. Following the note, the kids reach a dock where Dr. L, the evil twin brother of Pietro Bergamo, the magician leader of the Terces Society, holds them captive. Mr. Needleman, their new science teacher, helps rescue the kids and reveals that he is infact a member of the Terces society himself. Not to be bogged down by this little misadventure, the duo again set out to discover and unravel secrets in their quest to defeat their arch enemy, the Midnight Sun.

Thus begins the adventure of Cass, Max and their new friend Yo-Yoji as they look for the mysterious homunculus, a little monster named Cabbage Face and the strange little sound-prism. Navigating through kidnapping, secrets codes, enchanting magic and some breathtaking escapes, the kids are all out for a battle between good and evil.

Theres more to this book than wit, adventure and drama, as the author has cleverly included several interesting facts and figures here. Several footnotes and interesting tit-bits in the appendix section keep the kids glued to this book.
