Batatyachi Chal is the title of a humorous book in Marathi which Purushottam Laxman Deshpande wrote. The episodes in the book revolve around imaginary lower middle class families living in the 1940s in a fictitious tenement named "Batatyachi Chal" located in Girgaon area of Mumbai. Later Deshpande himself presented to the Marathi audience scores of one man shows based on the episodes in the above book, the shows having the same title as the book. The first show was presented in 1958. It was the ...first one-man show presentation in Marathi theater.
