Kriyananda was a direct disciple of the yogi Paramahansa Yogananda, and the founder of Ananda, a worldwide movement of spiritual intentional communities based on Yogananda's World Brotherhood Colonies ideal. Yogananda made Walters a minister for his organization, the Self-Realization Fellowship.
